Precautions of Asthma for children
1、What is Asthma?
Asthma, also known as bronchial asthma, is a chronic airway obstruction disease caused by both genetic predisposition and environmental factors. When the respiratory tract is stimulated by allergens, it leads to repeated coughing.Common symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. Common triggers include dust mites, mold, air pollutants, climate changes, and environmental factors.Respiratory infections are also a common cause of asthma attacks in children.
2、Preventive Measures for Asthma Patients:
(1)Regularly Clean the Home Environment to Eliminate Allergens:
Many allergens that trigger asthma, such as dust mites, cockroaches, pet dander, dust, and mold, are present in the home environment. It is recommended to clean the house at least once a week.
(2)Wear a Mask Outdoors to Avoid Irritating the Airways:
Outdoor environments contain many risk factors that can trigger asthma, such as temperature changes, pollen, vehicle exhaust, and secondhand smoke.Wearing a mask when going out not only keeps you warm but also protects the respiratory tract, reducing the risk of COVID-19 infection and asthma attacks.
(3)Exercise Regularly, Control Weight, and Improve Cardiopulmonary Function:
When asthma is under control, children are encouraged to exercise mildly. They can choose moderate activities that allow for intermittent rest, such as gymnastics, jogging, and swimming. It is important to pay attention to the temperature and air quality at the exercise location and always carry asthma-relieving medication (such as short-acting bronchodilators).
(4)Avoid Eating Cold Foods:
Cold foods can stimulate bronchoconstriction, causing symptoms such as coughing and phlegm, which lead to inflammation of the airways. Therefore, it is important to avoid overeating or suddenly consuming cold foods.
(5)Regular Check-ups and Consistent Medication:
Parents should teach children to follow the doctor’s instructions and take medication regularly to stabilize airway inflammation. It is also important to visit the doctor regularly for assessments to effectively control asthma.
