Brief Introduction

Dr. Hsieh is a professor of surgery at the Tri-Service General Hospital, specializing in liver transplantation. After graduating from medical school (National Defense Medical Center, NDMC), he underwent surgical training at the Tri-Service General Hospital and entered the sub-specialty field of digestive surgery, focusing on hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and related research. Currently, Dr. Hsieh has published more than 140 SCI medical papers. From 1999 to 2000, he went to UCLA in the United States to receive training as a visiting clinical researcher in liver transplantation. Returning to the Tri-Service General Hospital, he performed the hospital’s first cadaveric liver transplant & living donor liver transplant and successfully established the hospital’s liver transplant team. So far, more than 600 liver transplants have been completed, and the survival rate ranks among the best in Taiwan. Although he is currently busy with administrative work, he continues to participate in and improve the transplant surgery.

To advance medical Knowledge, Dr. Hsieh went to Japan, South Korea, Italy, the United States, and other countries to receive training in different fields. Dr. Hsieh devoted himself to difficult liver surgery, such as surgery for superior and inferior hepatic vein tumors, and innovative surgery to avoid simultaneous chest and abdomen incisions; He invented the theory that the energy of hepatic portal vein and arterial blood flow pressure does not decrease, which reduced postoperative complications; and changing the treatment strategy of liver cancer combined with target, immune therapy and cell therapy (CIK cell therapy), increasing the number of liver cancer treatment survival rate.

Dr. Hsieh also has experience in hospital management. After graduating from the Institute of Health Policy and Management, Taiwan University in 2015, he entered the field of healthcare management. He served as the director of the Medical Planning Department of the Military Medical Affairs Bureau and as the superintendent of Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital. During this period, Hualien Armed Forces General Hospital won the Government Service Award from the Executive Yuan. After that, he was promoted to Major General and transferred to be the Director of the Medical Department in Army Logistics Command to supervise the health services of the army. Currently serving as the superintendent of the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital.
