An emergency Aeromedical evacuation drill was conducted recently and was successfully completed.
Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital is the responsible medical center in the theater of operation (TO) and is responsible for providing emergency medical care for all casualties evacuated in the TO, as well as for natural disaster relief, to protect the safety of our service members and the civilians.
The aeromedical evacuation exercise was conducted in conjunction with the training of the army aviation unit, and the “Casualty Evacuation” drill was conducted in the morning of November 9 and the afternoon of November 15, 2023, respectively. It tested the effectiveness of the hospital’s emergency response through the drill.
The helipad was initiated on January 4, 2012, and can carry 13 tons of various types of rescue helicopters at maximum. By using helicopters to transport patients from the HengChun area to the hospital, the evacuation time can be shortened by 10 minutes, which is crucial to rescue patients. The responsible area of KAFGH includes the outlying islands of Dongsha, Nansha, and Penghu. The helipad on the top floor provides round-the-clock takeoffs and landings, which can shorten the evacuation time and strengthen the rescue capability to ensure that the military and civilians in the TO can receive the best medical care and services.
