Introduction
Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital was established after our national military took over the Japanese military hospital after the victory in the Second Sino-Japanese War, and was then called “Nanjing Army Hospital of the Ministry of Military Affairs”, with its site located in Tangshan, a suburb of Nanjing.
Since its founding on October 1, 1945, we have relied on our predecessors to devote themselves day and night to the planning and construction of the foundation of the hospital. Since March 21, 1977, when we moved into our current location, we have been working diligently for decades. Not only have we continued to change and improve in response to the increasing economic demands and social changes, but we have also continued to develop and improve in response to the increasing technological advances. Especially in the era of fast-forward-progress technology, the healthcare environment is very different from the past. In addition to reforming and refining our software and hardware facilities, we have also been working hard on improving our medical skills and techniques, and have never slackened or relaxed. At the same time, we also actively participate in hospital accreditation, out-of-hospital competitions, and academic exchanges to learn and grow and strive for innovation and progress. To improve the quality of medical services, the construction of the “Military Medical Building” has been underway since 2008, with a helicopter landing pad roof planned for disaster medical evacuation operations in remote areas. In January 2013, the building was officially opened.
This was the beginning of a new era of medical care for our hospital. In particular, the Gangshan Branch merged with our hospital, enabling us to achieve rapid and efficient organization. This was the case with our medical support for the Kaohsiung explosion accident in 2014 and the Tainan Earthquake in 2016.

◆Future◆
Looking back, the road in front of the hospital had changed from a yellow dirt road to a hard gravel road and then to an asphalt road. The quality of medical equipment and services has also changed from a fifth-class healthcare hospital in the theater to a regional teaching hospital in Kaohsiung City. In recent years, there have been significant improvements and achievements in medical services, including the symbol for national quality(SNQ) for Heat Stroke Prevention and Treatment Center, the Emergency Short-Term Rehousing Service for Children and Adolescents, and the National Health Administration’s Smoke-Free Hospital Gold Award, as well as other national awards and certificates of recognition. In the future, Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital will continue to play an important and irreplaceable role as a center hospital of the theater. It is not only our responsibility but also our honor to provide quality medical services and maintain the health of the military and civilians. We will continue to move forward in the direction of being the reliable health guardian for our military and civilians forever. We will continue to build the foundation for sustainable development to benefit the civilians and the military in the South!
