Doctor discussing cancer screening with patient

In recent years, cancer has continued to be the leading cause of death in Taiwan. Our hospital cooperates with the Health Promotion Administration for cancer prevention, and has established a cancer screening one-stop service providing free cancer screening. Please bring your NHI card to the cancer screening one-stop service, where staff will explain the process and arrange examinations for you.

Cancer Screening Services (Effective January 1, 2025):

  • Colorectal Cancer Screening — Fecal Occult Blood TestAges 45–74, or ages 40–44 with a family history of colorectal cancer; free screening every 2 years

Collect a fecal sample tube, take a sample from the stool surface, and the laboratory will test for occult blood. No fasting is required, but please postpone the test if you have diarrhea or constipation with bleeding.

  • Breast Cancer Screening — MammographyWomen ages 40–74; free screening every 2 years.

The examination is performed at the Radiology Department. During the process, appropriate pressure will be applied to compress the breast to avoid tissue overlap, reduce radiation, and achieve the best imaging results. Although there may be some discomfort, it is generally tolerable.

  • Oral Cancer Screening — Oral Mucosal ExaminationAdults age 30 and above who smoke or chew betel nut (including those who have quit), or indigenous people ages 18–29 who chew betel nut (including those who have quit); free screening every 2 years.

The examination is performed at the Dentistry or Otorhinolaryngology department by a specialist who conducts a visual oral examination and cervical lymph node examination.

  • Cervical Cancer Screening — Pap SmearWomen age 25 and above with sexual experience; free screening every year (or at least every 3 years).

The examination is performed at the Obstetrics and Gynecology ward. A Pap smear sample is collected by an obstetrician. The process is convenient and simple, and mostly painless. (Please avoid the menstrual period).

  • Lung Cancer Screening — Low-Dose CT Scan
