This committee is established in accordance with the Animal Protection Act and shall execute or plan the following tasks:
I. Tasks:
1. Reviewing the scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital.
2. Providing consultation on animal experiment design and training programs for this hospital.
3. Providing recommendations on standard operating procedures for laboratory animal management and improvement of housing facilities at this hospital.
4. Supervising the acquisition, housing, management, and compliance with approved protocols for the scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital (see also: IACUC Mid-term Review Guidelines for External Research Project Animal Experiments).
5. Providing annual supervisory reports on the scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital.
6. Conducting internal audits at least once every six months; audit results shall be included as appendices to the annual supervisory report and shall be retained for at least six years for review.
7. Other matters related to the scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital.
II. Items:
1. Review of animal experiment applications.
2. Issuance of animal experiment approval certificates.
3. Significant changes and renewal applications for animal experiments.
4. Organization of educational training and seminars on laboratory animal care and use.
5. Acceptance and investigation of animal welfare violation reports within this hospital.
6. Preparation and submission of annual reports to the competent authority.
7. Facility management and maintenance.
