The Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (hereafter CDC) announced today (the 10th) that the publicly funded COVID‑19 vaccines available domestically are Moderna and Novavax, both with ample stock—approximately 796,000 doses of Moderna and 171,000 doses of Novavax—and they provide protection against the currently dominant SARS‑CoV‑2 variants. Because antibodies develop about two weeks after vaccination, travelers who need a dose should get vaccinated as soon as possible to obtain protection early and reduce the risk of severe disease and death after infection. In addition, the public‑funded COVID‑19 vaccination program for all residents aged six months and older nationwide has been extended until April 30, 2026, and the CDC urges anyone who has not yet received this season’s COVID‑19 vaccine to seize the opportunity and get vaccinated to strengthen immune protection. Currently, the main respiratory pathogens circulating in the community are still influenza viruses, with both influenza A and B co‑circulating, and the national supply of influenza vaccine remains only about 67,000 doses.
