I. Legal Basis:

1. Established in accordance with the Regulations Governing Management of Infectious Biological Materials, amended and promulgated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare Order Wei-Shou-Ji-Zi No. 1100102022, dated December 15, 2021.

2. Established in accordance with the Regulations Governing Management of Infectious Biological Materials, amended and promulgated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare Order Bu-Shou-Ji-Zi No. 1080100040, dated January 31, 2019.

II. Purpose:

To ensure the safe use of infectious biological materials and their derivatives at this hospital, promote the safety of genetic recombination research, and safeguard the sustainable development of the living environment, the Biosafety Committee is hereby established.

III. Committee Duties:

1. Formulating biosafety and biosecurity management policies and regulations for laboratories and storage facilities.

2. Reviewing the biosafety levels of laboratories.

3. Reviewing the possession, use, import/export, storage, or disposal of Risk Group 2-4 pathogens and biological toxins in laboratories and storage facilities.

4. Reviewing biosafety, biosecurity, and emergency response plans for laboratories and storage facilities.

5. Reviewing plans for new construction, renovation, expansion, commissioning, or decommissioning of laboratories and storage facilities.

6. Reviewing biosafety and biosecurity disputes related to laboratories and storage facilities.

7. Establishing health monitoring mechanisms for laboratory and storage facility personnel.

8. Reviewing and supervising other matters related to the biosafety and biosecurity management of infectious biological materials, laboratories, and storage facilities.

IV. Organization and Duties:

1. The committee has 1 Chairperson, served by the Deputy Superintendent for Education.

2. The committee has 1 Vice Chairperson, served by the Director of Medical Department.

3. The committee has 1 Biosafety Director, served by the Chief Technologist of the Laboratory Division.

4. 12 members, served by relevant unit or laboratory managers.

5. 1 Executive Secretary, served by a researcher from the Medical Laboratory of the Education and Research Center.
