The committee, in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s Department of Disease Control’s regulations on the management of infectious biological materials, laboratory biosafety regulations, and laboratory biosecurity management regulations, formulates the management regulations for infectious biological materials. Whenever a laboratory possessing infectious biological materials undergoes changes or conducts genetic (recombinant) experiments, it must submit an application to the Biosafety Committee.
