I. Purpose
To ensure that research and teaching involving the use of animals at Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital (hereinafter referred to as "the Hospital") can be conducted smoothly while maintaining research standards, free from public hazard concerns, and in compliance with current regulations on animal use and public safety.
II. Legal Basis
1. Chapter 3 of the Animal Protection Act regarding the scientific application of animals, promulgated by Presidential Decree Hua-Zong-Yi-Yi-Zi No. 09900020011 on January 27, 2010.
2. Relevant provisions of the Enforcement Rules of the Animal Protection Act, Council of Agriculture, Executive Yuan Order (89) Nong-Mu-Zi No. 0890100554, dated January 19, 2000.
3. Regulations for the Establishment of the Animal Experiment Management Committee at Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital, Notice Qin-Tong-Zi No. 098000220, dated May 14, 2009.
III. Scope
1. Managing the acquisition, housing, care, and scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital.
2. Managing the disposal and environmental sanitation of laboratory animals at this hospital.
3. Reviewing animal experiment applications submitted to this hospital.
4. Planning education and training related to the humane care and use of laboratory animals.
5. Other matters related to the management and scientific application of laboratory animals at this hospital.
