Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital Faculty Development Regulations and Operating Procedures (25th revision, 2024.2.23)
This hospital has the responsibility for continuing clinical teaching education of residents, other medical professionals, and student interns. Therefore, the cultivation and development of "clinical teachers" require systematic planning and promotion. The hospital has established joint training program mechanisms with Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and I-Shou University E-Da Hospital.
I. Mission
To implement the continuity and completeness of medical education and achieve the goal of holistic patient care.
III. Work Content and Faculty Certification Procedures
- Develop and implement "Faculty Development and Incentive Regulations"
- Organize training workshops to enhance "teaching competence" and "teaching skills"
- Develop and implement "Teaching Evaluation Procedures"
- Conduct annual "Outstanding Teacher" selection in October
- Conduct annual "Clinical Teacher" qualification review in October for the following year
V. Clinical Teacher Qualification Requirements
New Teachers:
- General medical courses: Patient safety, healthcare quality, physician-patient communication, medical ethics, healthcare regulations, infection control, evidence-based medicine, and medical record writing — a total of 8 hours (to be completed within 2 years)
- Teaching competency enhancement courses: Course design, teaching techniques, assessment skills, etc. — at least 10 hours (to be completed within 2 years)
Renewal Teachers: Must complete at least 5 hours of teaching competency enhancement courses annually.
VI. Development and Incentives
- Attending physicians involved in clinical teaching receive teaching credit points as incentives
- Clinical teachers across all medical professions receive NT$800 per teaching hour
- Outstanding performers are recommended as lecturers at colleges and universities
- A bonus of NT$5,000 is awarded annually to individuals with excellent performance
