Unit:
Outpatient Surgery Pre‑Procedure
Please remove false eyelashes and nail polish at home beforehand, and do not apply makeup.
On the day of surgery, please bring the completed surgical consent form, health‑insurance IC card, and other relevant documents (e.g., disability certificate, serious‑illness card, etc.) and submit them to the operating‑room nursing station for registration.
The nursing station staff will conduct a pre‑operative interview in the waiting area, confirm personal information, surgical site and procedure, provide an orientation and education, place a patient identification wristband, measure temperature and blood pressure, and instruct you on changing into surgical attire.
When changing clothes, please remove all accessories, including contact lenses, dentures, hair clips, watches, necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, hearing aids, and all metal objects. Metal accessories can conduct electricity or cause scratches, and electrocautery may be used during surgery, so all potentially conductive items should be removed before surgery. Removable dentures may fall out and block the airway, so they should also be removed.
Please have your valuables and money kept by a family member.
When changing into surgical attire, all of your clothing must be replaced, including underwear and pants. If a female patient is menstruating, she may wear paper underwear at home. The surgical gown should be put on front‑to‑back (reverse). After changing, please wait in the patient waiting room for staff notification.
Please empty your bladder before surgery.
When you enter the operating room, the nursing staff will reconfirm your identity, surgical site, and procedure, and ask you to wear a surgical cap, change into operating‑room slippers, and provide a warming blanket.
After entering the operating room, the nursing staff will provide professional care, so family members should stay in the family waiting area outside the operating room, rest comfortably, and can view the patient's surgical progress on the television screen provided in the waiting area.
During your surgery, please ensure that at least one family member remains outside the operating room waiting. If a family member needs to leave temporarily, inform the operating‑room nursing station and provide your contact phone number.
Outpatient Surgery Intra‑Procedure
To ensure your safety and medical rights, the medical staff will reconfirm your identity, surgical site, and procedure, then accompany you into the operating room and assist you in safely moving onto the operating table.
Each operating room has professional nursing staff accompanying you, providing a warm blanket, caring for and soothing your anxiety, and attending to your needs at all times.
During the surgical preparation, the medical staff will help expose the appropriate surgical site while preserving your privacy and keeping you warm, then disinfect the area and apply sterile drapes. At this time, please follow the staff's instructions to maintain a steady position to preserve sterility.
The surgeon will inject a local anesthetic at the surgical site, which may cause a brief throbbing sensation. Once the anesthetic takes effect, the surgeon will proceed with the operation; if you still feel a stabbing pain during the procedure, inform the surgeon verbally, and additional anesthetic will be administered. Do not move around arbitrarily.
After the surgeon completes hemostasis and suturing of the wound, the wound will be bandaged, and any tissue samples will be sent to pathology for analysis.
Outpatient Surgery Post‑Procedure
We will provide postoperative care education based on your surgical method and wound condition, such as wound care, medication instructions, and follow‑up appointment timing.
Afterward, you may change back into your own clothes and return home.
If you have any questions after returning home, you can call the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital operating room at (07)749-6751 ext. 726631, or ask the main switchboard to connect you to the operating room. We will be happy to assist you.
